Starfruit cranberry sauce
To me, cranberries are a comfort food perfect during the fall. And starfruit just makes the dish star-studded extra delicious. Slice the cranberries or leave them whole.
Ingredients
- 1 inch fresh ginger
- 1 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 Florida starfruit
- 1 pkg. cranberries (12 oz.), rinsed with any bad ones thrown out
Instructions
-
Peel the ginger. Grate into very small or minced pieces.
-
In a large saucepan over medium-high heat, stir together the ginger, orange juice and sugar. Stir occasionally while bringing to a boil and then reduce to a simmer.
-
Meanwhile, cut off the ends of the starfruit and trim the ribs with a veggie peeler. Cut into 1/2-inch star slices.
-
Add the starfruit and cranberries to the saucepan. Simmer. Stir occasionally until all the cranberries pop, about 8 minutes. Set aside to cool.
-
Serve chilled or at room temperature.
