Martini to the stars
Forget the olives-top your drink with a slice of starfruit. A refreshing starfruit and vodka is the next party drink! But buy extra starfruit; at my gathering most of the slices were eaten "a la carte".
- 1 oz. vodka
- 1 medium Florida starfruit (larger than the palm of your hand)
- 2 tbs sugar
- 1 lime
- 1 cup ice cubes
Slice the ends off the starfruit and discard them. Slice off 1 star-shaped slice for garnish. Slice remainder into thick stars. Place in a blender or food processor; purée.
Add the starfruit puree, vodka, sugar, juice of the lime and ice to a shaker. Tightly close and shake vigorously for 30 seconds.
Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with the reserved slice of starfruit.
